Out of the indefinite beyond
Awareness.
Toes twitch. Nose scrunches.
An ambient warmth discovers a boundary- a body.
Suddenly, there is me and I am here.
But who am I and here is where?

From the thin horizon of parting eyelids, a watery image unfolds
Bold, solid colors in still-life, hanging,
like a stagnant mobile above an infant's crib.

They're crisp now, much sharper than the strange visions who now fade back into the unconscious, unremembered, unregistered.
Their lingering heartstrings waiver, un-grounded in the calmness, leaving only the shadow of a doubt.
A filament of uncertainty
Unworded but felt.
Is all this really so?

In this moment, seemingly attatched to no others, I am held in an hallucinatory existence; a tranquil bewilderment.

Without warning, the colors and shapes of the room gain another dimension, one of concepts.
Automatically categorized and codified, objects with meaning and purpose appear, and suddenly it all comes rushing back.
I am enveloped in the plot line of my life and I am once again the protagonist.

The dream is gone. Paradise found. I ask myself, 'where was I?'
